The Ivory Method came to be in September of 2008. It was a comprised 3-piece rock band that drew from very different influences among the members. The band was together for almost a year, adding an additional member to become a 4-piece ensemble. Method played several shows before coming to a halt in the fall of 2009. The members went on to do different projects and follow various paths for the next couple of years. In the fall of 2011, two of the original members had come back together to try and restart the band. After trying to find another bassist, they were successful in finding the newest member in mid-fall of 2011. The band regrouped back to a 3-piece consisting of drums, bass and guitar/vox.

The music of The Ivory Method is indie/pop and alternative rock influenced. The songs are catchy and edgy at the same time. The lyrics are fun and easy to follow. The guitar riffs go from smooth and nice to crunchy and raw when needed. The basslines not only support but shine through when melodic space needs to be filled. The drums go from in-the-pocket to full of technical ability to keep the heartbeat thumpimg.
