The idea behind this project came to the mind of Ilan green when he came across names of musical instruments appearing in several places along the old testament. A short research discovered several theories about these names, some claiming they are related to musical instruments, others claiming the names describe songs or musical structures and so on. As a musician dealing with sound and instrument building as an integral part of his musical creation, Green jumped at the opportunity to build these unknown instruments according to his imagination. He built 16 different instruments, and chose several texts from different sources such as “the song of songs”, “Talmud”, “psalms” and the “mishna”, as inspiration for the musical work. Over the next two years, the other members of the group joined in, each bringing his/her own musical influences, and together they started a process of discovering the possibilities of playing the new instruments, improvising together, composin...
